WHO’S YOUR DADDY?– The world
premiere of a darkly comic, true story about a single man’s struggle to
adopt against all odds. A ladies’ man who likes the gents a bit more, no
one expected down-on-his-luck actor Johnny O’Callaghan (Stargate
Atlantis) to ever become a father…least of all him. But a trip to
Africa becomes a nine-month roller coaster ride-to the heart, during which he finds his son - and discovers himself..
Johnny
O’Callaghan has performed in Canada, Ireland and the USA. He left home
at 17 to work for BMW in Munich, Germany. After falling asleep many
times on the factory floor he decided to study Computer Science at the
University of Ulster in Belfast and realized that was not for him
either. He then started to act with Belfast Youth and Community Theatre –
a company to unite protestant and catholic actors. They toured Ireland
with the play CASTLE RACKRENT. The New Theatre School followed in
Boston, Massachusetts. After graduation he pursued his craft in Toronto.
He quickly became a member of Canadian Actors Equity after playing the
role of One Shot Dunphy (Rapist/Terrorist) in CAROLANS FAREWELL.
He moved to NEW YORK CITY to star in the one-man show RUM & VODKA
written by Conor Mcpherson. This was a huge success and led to
recordings for HBO and NBC. And after several Regional (including The
Cleveland Playhouse and The Sugan) and Off Broadway successes (La Mama,
The Irish Repertory Theatre, Primary Stages, Manhattan Theatre Club,
etc,) and landing the same agent as Jack Nicholson he moved WEST to Los
Angeles.
John most recently completed the sold out hit LADIES AND GENTS in the
toilets of Central Park, NYC. Before that in NYC he starred in Howie The
Rookie by Mark O’Rowe at the Irish Arts Centre, directed by the Emmy
Award Winner Nancy Malone. The show was also a sold out hit in Toronto
and Los Angeles. He has recurred Stephen Dedalus in Bloomsday on
Broadway.
